For much of 2009, I worked closely with talented director João Amorim and a wonderful team of student animators to create fifteen minutes of illustrated animation for the documentary feature film 2012:Time for Change. To create the wonderful little world within the film, I illustrated hundreds of elements, designed numerous environments, and worked extensively with character designer Isam Prado. Inspired by ideas of psyche exploration and spiritual evolution, the narrative sequences we created help present optimistic constructive approaches to transform our unsustainable society into a regenerative planetary culture.
The experience was an incredibly challenging opportunity to blend delightful visual imagery with profound themes of transformative consciousness and the systemic implementation of ecological design, all woven together to create an entertaining story. You can view more of the imagery for the film on my flickr page and several of these charming little animations can be seen here.
2012:Time for Change premiered at the San Francisco Greenfest, was screened nation-wide, and featured in many festivals around the world. It has been released on DVD and is available On Demand and Netflix. The film follows journalist Daniel Pinchbeck, author of the bestselling 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl, on a quest for a new paradigm that integrates the archaic wisdom of tribal cultures with the scientific method. Appearances include Sting, David Lynch, Gilberto Gil, Terence McKenna, Ellen Page, and Barbara Marx Hubbard.
